Dynamical stability of strange quark stars

چکیده
The necessary and sufficient condition for dynamical stability is worked out for the sequences of relativistic star models corresponding to the well defined and causal values of adiabatic sound speed, √ (dP/dE)0 = v0, at the centre. On the basis of these conditions, we show that the mass-radius (M −R) relation corresponding to the MIT bag models of strange quark matter (SQM) and the models obtained by Day et al (1998) do not provide the necessary and sufficient condition for dynamical stability for the equilibrium configurations, since such configurations can not even fulfill the necessary condition of hydrostatic equilibrium provided by the exterior Schwarzschild solution. These findings will remain unaltered and can be extended to any other sequence of pure SQM. This study explicitly show that although the strange quark matter might exist in the state of zero pressure and temperature, but the models of pure strange quark ‘stars’ can not exist in the state of hydrostatic equilibrium on the basis of General Relativity Theory. This study can affect the results which are claiming that various objects like RX J1856.5-3754, SAX J1808.4-3658, 4U 1728-34, PSR 0943+10 etc. might be strange stars.

Strange stars with different quark mass scalings
We investigate the stability of strange quark matter and the properties of the corresponding strange stars, within a wide range of quark mass scaling. The calculation shows that the resulting maximum mass always lies between 1.5M⊙ and 1.8M⊙ for all the scalings chosen here. Strange star sequences with a linear scaling would support less gravitational mass, and a change (increase or decrease) of...
متن کاملSolid Bare Strange Quark Stars
The reason, we need three terms of ‘strange’, ‘bare’, and ‘solid’ before quark stars, is presented concisely though some fundamental issues are not certain. Observations favoring these stars are introduced. 1. Hadronic stability: why strange? Strange (quark) stars are quark stars with strangeness. What’s strangeness? Some peculiar cosmic ray events were discovered in 1947, with a strange nature...
متن کاملColor superconductivity and quark stars
The search for new phases of strange quark matter inside neutron stars has recently received a lot of attention since it has been shown that the attractive nature of the one gluon exchange interaction in QCD may produce a superconducting phase in quark matter. We study an extended version of the Chromodielectric model with a BCS quark pairing implemented, and analyze the superconducting color f...
متن کاملStrange quark stars — A review
A pedagogical overview of strange quark matter and strange stars is presented. After a historical notation of the research and an introduction to quark matter, a major part is devoted to the physics and astrophysics of strange stars, with attention being paid to the possible ways by which neutron stars and strange stars can be distinguished in astrophysics. Recent possible evidence for bare str...
متن کاملElectric Character of Strange Stars
Using the Thomas-Fermi model, we investigated the electric characteristics of a static non-magnetized strange star without crust in this paper. The exact solutions of electron number density and electric field above the quark surface are obtained. These results are useful if we are concerned about physical processes near the quark matter surfaces of strange stars. PACS: 97.60.Gb, 97.60.Jd, 97.6...
